Luminess Air: Airbrush makeup (review)

by Ashley T on September 13, 2011

I am forever on the lookout for makeup that is both easy and light.  Most liquid foundations are way to heavy for me but powders are a little but harder for me to find a match to my skin tone. I have patchy skin. My face is light in some areas and dark in other. So sometimes maybe 2 different colors match and I must pick one or mix to get something working out. This is why I don’t wear makeup that often.

However, let me introduce you to Luminess Air. Luminess Air is an airbrush makeup set. Its makeup that goes on light, smooth and fast.  It doesn’t cake up like other makeups can because of the way it goes onto your face. Want to see an example of it? Here’s a video, check it out.

My review:

I tested out the different ones they sent me. Obviously I am dark skinned so my kit came with 4 different dark shades. After testing them, I figured out I’m an 8. It was really easy to notice the difference. The great thing is that if you are in-between any of them you can mix the ones to have to get closer to your tone. I didn’t have to worry about that but its a great option. The first time I used it, I had some trouble. Not major trouble, just problems trying to get the makeup to flow evenly. I don’t know if there was something wrong or just user error, but I couldn’t get the makeup to come out in a steady stream. So I cleaned it and went along my day. The second time I tried it, I was set to have it work great. I tested my pressure on the stylus on the mirror before using it on my face and got used to where I needed to hold it so it would stray evenly. Then I tested it out on my face. I had to use 2 layers on makeup to get the desired look I wanted but in the end, I am happy with the result.

My skin looked flawless, or at least I think so. Wait, I’m not the only one who thinks so. I went downstairs after applying to show my husband what the finished result looked like. First he was confused.. well because he’s a man. Then he took a closer look at my face and told me how great I looked. He knows I don’t wear makeup often so I asked him for his honest opinion. He said that my face looked smooth and different from when I put the powder on. He said it looked natural and blended well. I was happy with his review. The next day, I wore it to work. It seriously only took about 5 minutes to put it on so it didn’t interrupt my “getting ready for work” mojo. I got lots of complements at work too. Everyone loved how light it looked and hoe even it looked.

I will tell you that to make sure that my stylus flows freely every time I use it, I try to clean it out with a little bit of water before usage just to make sure it was cleaned out well the last time.

If you’d like to get that flawless look like I did, check out Luminess Air‘s website to see what they offer. You can also find them on Facebook, twitter, and their blog.

I was provided the Luminess Airbrush system for the purpose of this review.
No other compensation was received.
All opinions are my own.
