Last week, my best friend was having a bad day… a bad week I should probably say. She’s busy with a grad school right now and she has work and her son to worry about on top of that. I knew that if anything else was added to that, its more stress. And of course it does.
I knew what she was going through and because I live 6 hours away from her, I didn’t know what I could do… then I decided on a random act of kindness. She had tweeted about how much she would love to be sitting with me drinking coffee.. so what did I do? No, I didn’t drive to her. I didn’t have the time for that. But I went and sent her a gift card to her favorite coffee shop so she could at least have some coffee and think of me. That’s what we can random acts of kindness.
Have you just sent someone something in the last week? It could be just a card that you sent to your grandma, or you could order an Interflora gifts for her for your mom. It doesn’t have to be a birthday or any special occasion to show your love to anyone you know. Everyone once in a while, I’ll send a card or just a note to my grandma, because I’m not able to see her as often as I’d like to.. and I suck at remembering to make a simple phone call. Even just sending a text that says “Thinking of you!” can make someone’s day. You never know what someone could be going through and sometimes just a simple hello makes someone feel like they aren’t alone.
Take your chance this week and say Thank You to someone who has been there but you haven’t found the words. Send a card to that cousin who lives on the other side of the country. Call you mom and ask her how her day is going. Random acts of kindness are just that… random.
