With Christmas break coming up, I am looking for things to keep Hayden busy since he loves school so much. He’s totally into doing crafts and things now so whenever I cook or am working on something for my blog, he wants to be involved. I was especially excited when I received the box from Green Kid Crafts for Hayden to play with.
Green Kid Crafts is a mom-owned, green company that uses only safe, natural and sustainable materials. Once a month, you receive a box of goodies to review and have fun with your child. The box is specifically made for ages 3-8 so Noah was a tad young to be doing any of the crafts but Hayden was excited and ready to go.
We checked out the box of items that we got. We happened to have gotten the November Food Adventures Box. This box had:
- supplies for making a fish game (from recycled felt)
- a set to growing organic basil and alfalfa sprout gardens
- a set for making rainbow tile coasters
- coupons from places such as Annie’s, Stonyfield, Mary’s Gone Crackers and Immaculate Baking — a $20+ value!
Hayden has become the big kid and must do as much as he can by himself. So I let him do the coaster by himself.. for the most part. I know how he is with glue so my husband and I watched him on that part. Once we explained what he needed to do, he was off and rolling. It seems we were missing some tiles from our coaster.. not sure if they were missing from the box or Noah lost them. I’d put my money on Noah though. I think he did a wonderful job! He wanted to get some of the colors together and he worked hard.
I also wanted to help him set up the fish game. See the picture above? I outlined all the fish so he could cut them out. The problem was that he had issues cutting them out so I had to do that too. But he did the rest: tying the string to the pencil and connecting the washer to the bottom. He played that game for about an hour after he was finished. It was his favorite part. We haven’t had the chance to make the organic basil and alfalfa sprout gardens but he keeps asking me. I know he’s excited about growing things and I decided to save it until the spring so we can also work on a garden.
